Welcome to THE WORD To Live By By accessing our website at www.thewordtoliveby.com or using our mobile application on iOS and Android, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.

1. Description of Service

THE WORD To Live By provides a mobile platform for users to access Scripture content and audio playback. The service utilizes:

  • Frameworks: Expo (React Native) for the mobile interface and Ruby on Rails for the backend API.
  • Content: Scripture data provided via API.Bible and audio generated through ElevenLabs text-to-speech technology.
  • Infrastructure: Hosting through Heroku and audio storage via Cloudflare R2.

2. Use of the App and Website

  • License: We grant you a personal, non-exclusive license to use the app as distributed through the Apple App Store (via TestFlight) and Google Play Store.
  • Notifications: By using the app, you may elect to receive push notifications delivered through the Expo Push Notifications service.
  • Restrictions: Users may not attempt to reverse-engineer the Ruby on Rails API or interfere with the background processing handled by Redis and Sidekiq.

3. Content Disclaimers

  • Accuracy: Scripture content is pulled directly from API.Bible. We are not responsible for typographical errors or omissions in the source text.
  • Audio Generation: Audio is generated using artificial intelligence (ElevenLabs). While we strive for high quality, the synthetic nature of the audio may result in occasional pronunciation variances.

4. Intellectual Property

All application code, UI design, and original assets are the property of THE WORD To Live By. Scripture text is used under license from the respective rights holders via API.Bible.

5. Limitation of Liability

The service is provided "as is." We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free or that access will be continuous, especially during background audio generation tasks or server maintenance on Heroku or Cloudflare.

6. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the mobile app or website following updates constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
